In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of pear to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, pear imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium amounted to -3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (-24.3% per year) and the Netherlands (-1.6% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium totaled +9.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (-14.5% per year) and the Netherlands (+11.1% per year).

The average pear import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 200% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Portugal ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
