Plastic Household Ware Market Size in Azerbaijan
After two years of decline, the Azerbaijani plastic household ware market increased by 1.2% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded resilient growth. Plastic household ware consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic household ware production reached $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Plastic household ware production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Azerbaijan
In 2021, shipments abroad of plastics household articles and toilet articles decreased by -14.1% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 319% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, plastic household ware exports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 345%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
Ukraine (X tons) was the main destination for plastic household ware exports from Azerbaijan, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic household ware exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X tons), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ukraine stood at +482.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+175.9% per year) and Russia (-3.4% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastics household articles and toilet articles exports from Azerbaijan, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Ukraine stood at +534.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+180.8% per year) and Russia (+5.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average plastic household ware export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.3% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, plastic household ware export price increased by +29.5% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 41%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belarus ($X per ton) and Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Household Ware Imports
Imports into Azerbaijan
Plastic household ware imports into Azerbaijan declined slightly to X tons in 2021, falling by -3.9% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic household ware imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 103%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Iran (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic household ware imports to Azerbaijan, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +74.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), China ($X) and Iran ($X) appeared to be the largest plastic household ware suppliers to Azerbaijan, with a combined 86% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +72.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average plastic household ware import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 8.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 42%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
