Georgia (X tons) was the main destination for soap exports from Azerbaijan, with a 83% share of total exports. Moreover, soap exports to Georgia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X tons), with a 1.7% share.

In value terms, Georgia ($X) remains the key foreign market for soap exports from Azerbaijan, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 5.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Croatia, with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Georgia stood at +43.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+80.1% per year) and Croatia (+6.1% per year).

In 2021, the average soap export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -31.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 58%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Azerbaijan
In 2021, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of soap, when their volume decreased by -2.1% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 60%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, soap imports stood at $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 113%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of soap to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, soap imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Indonesia (X tons), with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey amounted to -1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-1.3% per year) and Indonesia (+43.1% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of soap to Azerbaijan, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey amounted to +13.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+17.1% per year) and Indonesia (+70.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average soap import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
