Production of Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Waters in Azerbaijan
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water production reached $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -2.3% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 42%. Non-mineral or non-aerated water production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Azerbaijan
In 2021, overseas shipments of non-mineral or non-aerated waters decreased by -2.2% to X litres, falling for the second consecutive year after six years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 107%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X litres. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water exports declined modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 172%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X litres), China (X litres) and Kazakhstan (X litres) were the main destinations of non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from Azerbaijan, with a combined 99% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +186.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-mineral or non-aerated water exported from Azerbaijan worldwide, together accounting for 92% of total exports.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +87.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average non-mineral or non-aerated water export price stood at $X per litre in 2021, with a decrease of -2.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 119% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Non-Mineral or Non-Aerated Waters
Imports into Azerbaijan
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of non-mineral or non-aerated waters increased by 1.7% to X litres in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 12%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated water to Azerbaijan, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X litres), threefold. Norway (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey totaled +11.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-5.5% per year) and Norway (+33.4% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Russia ($X) and Norway ($X) were the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water suppliers to Azerbaijan, together comprising 92% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Norway, with a CAGR of +24.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
The average non-mineral or non-aerated water import price stood at $X per litre in 2021, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per litre), while the price for Turkey ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Georgia (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
