Georgia (X tons) was the main destination for whole fresh milk exports from Azerbaijan, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, whole fresh milk exports to Georgia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uzbekistan (X tons), more than tenfold.

Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 78%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, whole fresh milk imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

Belarus (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of whole fresh milk imports to Azerbaijan, together accounting for 81% of total imports. Iran, Poland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +181.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
