Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 290% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 181% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X units) was the main destination for exports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors from Bahrain, with a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sudan (X units), eightfold. Kuwait (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Saudi Arabia stood at +23.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sudan (+20.1% per year) and Kuwait (+14.1% per year).

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the key foreign market for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors exports from Bahrain, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sudan ($X), with a 4% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 1.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Saudi Arabia stood at +16.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sudan (+123.5% per year) and Turkey (0.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average export price for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 56% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 91%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors, when their volume decreased by -6.4% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 197% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, imports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors rose markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +24.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest forklift truck and industrial works truck supplier to Bahrain, accounting for a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X units), twofold. Germany (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +19.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+87.7% per year) and Germany (+31.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Japan ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the largest forklift truck and industrial works truck suppliers to Bahrain, with a combined 55% share of total imports. India, Germany, Thailand, Switzerland and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 1.3%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +87.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average import price for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors amounted to $X per unit, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 51% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
