The United Arab Emirates (X kg) was the main destination for olive exports from Bahrain, accounting for a 100% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia (X kg), with a 0.2% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates totaled +42.1%.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for olives exports from Bahrain, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 0.6% share of total exports.

Imports into Bahrain

In 2022, the amount of olives imported into Bahrain surged to X tons, rising by 60% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 555% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, olive imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 256%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Jordan (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) were the main suppliers of olive imports to Bahrain, together accounting for 66% of total imports.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +26.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+20.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
