Room Deodorants Market Size in Bahrain

In 2022, the Bahraini room deodorants market increased by 87% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. Room deodorants consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms decreased by -6% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 255% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 61%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

Kuwait (X tons) was the main destination for room deodorants exports from Bahrain, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, room deodorants exports to Kuwait exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Oman (X tons), more than tenfold. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kuwait stood at +67.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+24.7% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-1.7% per year).

In value terms, Kuwait ($X) remains the key foreign market for preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms exports from Bahrain, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kuwait totaled +53.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (-8.0% per year) and Oman (+17.4% per year).

In 2022, the average room deodorants export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -19.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. X tons of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms were imported into Bahrain; growing by 16% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants imports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Jordan (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of room deodorants imports to Bahrain, together comprising 35% of total imports.

Based on 2022 figures, room deodorants import price decreased by -18.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 38% against the previous year.
