Television Receiver Market Size in Bahrain

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Bahraini television receiver market, when its value decreased by -23.1% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a deep slump. Television receiver consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of television receivers decreased by -55% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 16,838% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Egypt (X units) were the main destinations of television receiver exports from Bahrain, together comprising 97% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +104.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for television receiver exported from Bahrain were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Egypt ($X), together accounting for 96% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +149.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average television receiver export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 133% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+22.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Bahrain

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of television receivers, when their volume increased by 68% to X units. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, television receiver imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of television receiver to Bahrain, accounting for a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, television receiver imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Korea (X units), with a 1.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +19.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (+21.5% per year) and South Korea (-10.1% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Egypt ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the largest television receiver suppliers to Bahrain, together comprising 90% of total imports. Vietnam, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 3.9%.

Among the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +72.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average television receiver import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -52.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 49%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
