Agricultural Appliance Market Size in Bangladesh

In 2021, the Bangladeshi agricultural appliance market decreased by -3% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a sharp descent. Agricultural appliance consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, agricultural appliance exports reduced markedly to $X in 2016. In general, exports showed a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -41.9% was in 2015. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Uganda (X units) was the main destination for agricultural appliance exports from Bangladesh, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports into Bangladesh

In 2021, supplies from abroad of agricultural appliances increased by 1.3% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 63%. Imports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, agricultural appliance imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 51%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Turkey (X units) and India (X units) were the main suppliers of agricultural appliance imports to Bangladesh, together accounting for 67% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +29.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of agricultural appliances to Bangladesh, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 7.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India amounted to -7.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-27.6% per year) and South Korea (-2.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average agricultural appliance import price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 190%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while the price for Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+34.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
