The Bangladeshi market for calendars and trade advertising material dropped to $X in 2022, waning by -6.2% against the previous year. In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of calendars and trade advertising material, when their volume increased by 7.7% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, showed a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 76%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, calendars and trade advertising material exports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 159% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for calendars and trade advertising material exports from Bangladesh, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. In value terms, the largest markets for calendars and trade advertising material exported from Bangladesh were Germany ($X), Sri Lanka ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 53% of total exports.

Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +58.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+55.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Bangladesh

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of calendars and trade advertising material decreased by -20.3% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 169%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, calendars and trade advertising material imports plummeted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 212% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of calendars and trade advertising material to Bangladesh, with a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, calendars and trade advertising material imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR (X tons), with a 2.9% share.

Among the main suppliers, Russia, with a CAGR of +55.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for calendars and trade advertising material stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
