The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 311%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, cashew nut imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cashew nut to Bangladesh, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, cashew nut imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Cambodia (X tons), ninefold. Singapore (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Indonesia stood at +41.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Cambodia (+75.9% per year) and Singapore (-16.4% per year).

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cashew nut to Bangladesh, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Indonesia amounted to +36.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+5.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average cashew nut import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 4.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+30.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
