Common Clay Market Size in Bangladesh

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 221% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) was the main destination for common clay exports from Bangladesh, with a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy (X tons), with a 0.1% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to India stood at +83.1%.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the key foreign market for common clay exports from Bangladesh, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+33.6%).
Common Clay Imports
Imports into Bangladesh
In 2022, the amount of common clay imported into Bangladesh fell dramatically to X tons, with a decrease of -16.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 163% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.
In value terms, common clay imports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Malaysia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of common clay imports to Bangladesh, with a combined 94% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +31.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest common clay suppliers to Bangladesh were Malaysia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and India ($X), with a combined 88% share of total imports.
