Common Pottery Market Size in Bangladesh

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 726% against the previous year. The United States (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of common pottery exports from Bangladesh, together comprising 49% of total exports. Russia, the UK, Germany, Chile, Ghana, Jordan, Bhutan, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Ghana (with a CAGR of +50.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for common pottery exported from Bangladesh were the United States ($X), Poland ($X) and Egypt ($X), together comprising 42% of total exports. Ghana, Germany, Russia, Chile, the UK, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, Malaysia and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

In 2022, purchases abroad of common pottery was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 385%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, common pottery imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 437% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of common pottery imports to Bangladesh, together comprising 76% of total imports. The United States, Singapore, Germany, Thailand and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
