Imports into Bangladesh
For the fourth consecutive year, Bangladesh recorded growth in overseas purchases of dry vegetables, which increased by 7.3% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 123%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, dry vegetable imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 141% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, India (X tons) constituted the largest dry vegetable supplier to Bangladesh, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, dry vegetable imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold.
