Ether Market Size in Bangladesh

The Bangladeshi ether market dropped to $X in 2022, which is down by -14% against the previous year. Imports into Bangladesh

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of ethers decreased by -15.5% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 94%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ether imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Singapore (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of ether imports to Bangladesh, with a combined 66% share of total imports. China, Malaysia, Taiwan (Chinese), the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +29.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ethers to Bangladesh, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Singapore stood at +11.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+11.9% per year) and China (+4.9% per year).

The average ether import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 2.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
