Hair Spray Market Size in Bangladesh

In 2022, the Bangladeshi hair spray market increased by 41% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, consumption enjoyed a mild expansion. In value terms, hair spray exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 643%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Luxembourg (X kg) was the main destination for hair spray exports from Bangladesh, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, hair spray exports to Luxembourg exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X kg), threefold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Luxembourg totaled +2,427.8%.

From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of hair sprays, when their volume increased by 24% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hair spray imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -25.1% against 2018 indices. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, South Korea (X tons) constituted the largest hair spray supplier to Bangladesh, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, hair spray imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), fourfold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from South Korea amounted to -4.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+10.6% per year) and the UK (+13.4% per year).

In value terms, South Korea ($X) constituted the largest supplier of hair sprays to Bangladesh, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 3% share of total imports. It was followed by Sri Lanka, with a 2.1% share.

Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hair spray import price decreased by -14.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 57%.
