In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 389% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fruit or nut preserves exports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 234% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from Bangladesh, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Cambodia, the United States, the UK, Mongolia and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +190.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes were imported into Bangladesh; rising by 227% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
