Fruit or nut preserves production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Bangladesh
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes decreased by -5.3% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 389% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fruit or nut preserves exports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 234% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
China (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from Bangladesh, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Cambodia, the United States, the UK, Mongolia and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +190.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for fruit or nut preserves exported from Bangladesh were China ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Australia ($X), with a combined 65% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Cambodia, the UK, Mongolia and Oman, which together accounted for a further 23%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +125.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average fruit or nut preserves export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Jams, Marmalades, Fruit Jellies, Fruit Or Nut Purees And Pastes
Imports into Bangladesh
In 2021, approx. X tons of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes were imported into Bangladesh; rising by 227% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fruit or nut preserves imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 175%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of fruit or nut preserves to Bangladesh, with a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, fruit or nut preserves imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), more than tenfold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India totaled +32.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+34.2% per year) and Belgium (+32.0% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes to Bangladesh, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India amounted to +25.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+59.4% per year) and Belgium (+34.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average fruit or nut preserves import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -40.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 83%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
