Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 54%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, lactose imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

New Zealand (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of lactose imports to Bangladesh, with a combined 83% share of total imports. France, the United States and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.
