The Bangladeshi needles, catheters, cannulae market rose remarkably to $X in 2021, increasing by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, needles, catheters, cannulae exports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Thailand (X units) was the main destination for needles, catheters, cannulae exports from Bangladesh, with a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, needles, catheters, cannulae exports to Thailand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X units), sixfold. Lebanon (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.7% share.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Kenya ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with an 8.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Thailand totaled +49.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kenya (+44.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+19.5% per year).

In 2021, the average needles, catheters, cannulae export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -8.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 210%. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
