In value terms, sunflower seed imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 261%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sunflower seed to Bangladesh, accounting for a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, sunflower seed imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
