Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan totaled $X per ton.

In 2021, overseas purchases of abrasives (natural) increased by 8.5% to X tons, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, abrasives imports rose notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia totaled +23.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (+745.0% per year) and Australia (+1.8% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of abrasives (natural) to Belarus, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by South Africa, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia stood at -4.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (-1.5% per year) and South Africa (+670.0% per year).
