In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 340% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, polyethylene glycol wax exports dropped notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 312%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for polyethylene glycol wax exports from Belarus, with a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, polyethylene glycol wax exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ukraine (X tons), threefold.

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 254%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, polyethylene glycol wax imports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 192% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyethylene glycol wax imports to Belarus, together comprising 57% of total imports. These countries were followed by Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia, which together accounted for a further 22%.
