Ukraine (X tons) was the main destination for bituminous mixtures exports from Belarus, with a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, bituminous mixtures exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), more than tenfold. Lithuania (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ukraine totaled +30.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-9.8% per year) and Lithuania (+61.3% per year).

In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for bituminous mixtures exports from Belarus, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 6.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Estonia, with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ukraine amounted to +27.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-5.8% per year) and Estonia (+140.2% per year).

The average bituminous mixtures export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bituminous mixtures imports plummeted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 168%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Lithuania (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of bituminous mixtures imports to Belarus, with a combined 90% share of total imports. Germany, Ukraine and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.2%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +42.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X) constituted the largest supplier of bituminous mixtures to Belarus, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 9.7% share.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while the price for Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
