Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 56% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, coniferous wood in the rough exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +154.5% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Poland (X cubic meters) was the main destination for coniferous wood in the rough exports from Belarus, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, coniferous wood in the rough exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Lithuania (X cubic meters), with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland totaled +8.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+35.7% per year) and Lithuania (+33.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for coniferous wood in the rough exported from Belarus were Poland ($X), Latvia ($X) and Lithuania ($X), with a combined 72% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, China, Austria and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 24%.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +64.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for coniferous wood in the rough stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 2.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 7.7% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of coniferous wood in the rough was finally on the rise to reach X cubic meters for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 115%. Over the period under review, coniferous wood in rough imports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, coniferous wood in the rough imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, coniferous wood in rough imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Russia (X cubic meters) was the main supplier of coniferous wood in the rough to Belarus, accounting for a approx. 100% share of total imports.
