The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 373%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Ukraine (X tons) was the main destination for dog and cat food exports from Belarus, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, dog and cat food exports to Ukraine exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Kazakhstan (X tons), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ukraine amounted to +34.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-20.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (+11.1% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for dog and cat food exports from Belarus, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 2.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ukraine stood at +61.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-12.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (+11.2% per year).

The average dog and cat food export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 60%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Russia ($X per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($X per ton) and Georgia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

Imports into Belarus
For the tenth year in a row, Belarus recorded growth in overseas purchases of dog and cat food, which increased by 16% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 56%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, dog and cat food imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dog and cat food to Belarus, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, dog and cat food imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), more than tenfold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia stood at +23.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+23.0% per year) and Germany (+29.3% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dog and cat food to Belarus, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 4.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia amounted to +18.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+25.6% per year) and Ukraine (+21.1% per year).

The average dog and cat food import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
