Toy Market Size in Belarus

In value terms, toy exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for toy exports from Belarus, with a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, toy exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia stood at +8.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+51.5% per year) and Germany (+13.0% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for dolls and toys exports from Belarus, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 5.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia totaled +1.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+51.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (+27.9% per year).

The average toy export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt descent. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Belarus
After five years of growth, overseas purchases of dolls and toys decreased by -14.9% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, toy imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest toy supplier to Belarus, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, toy imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +15.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+16.6% per year) and Ukraine (+37.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Russia ($X) and Ukraine ($X) appeared to be the largest toy suppliers to Belarus, together comprising 97% of total imports.
Ukraine, with a CAGR of +27.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
