The Belarusian electronic chip market fell to $X in 2021, which is down by -8.4% against the previous year. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 34%. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip exports reached $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X units) was the main destination for electronic chip exports from Belarus, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, electronic chip exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X units), sixfold. South Korea (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia stood at -1.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+5.8% per year) and South Korea (+1.1% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X), China ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the largest markets for electronic chip exported from Belarus worldwide, together accounting for 77% of total exports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, India, Lithuania, Ukraine and Armenia, which together accounted for a further 18%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +108.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average electronic chip export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Belarus
In 2021, purchases abroad of electronic chips decreased by -0.9% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -13.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest electronic chip supplier to Belarus, with a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, electronic chip imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X units), twofold. Vietnam (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +3.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-1.8% per year) and Vietnam (+133.1% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of electronic chips to Belarus, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +19.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-4.1% per year) and Malaysia (+8.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average electronic chip import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 36% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electronic chip import price increased by +54.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 48%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
