In value terms, cold-rolled steel products exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 882%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Russia (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of cold-rolled steel products exports from Belarus, with a combined 74% share of total exports.

In 2022, purchases abroad of flat-rolled products of iron or steel (not further worked than cold-rolled) increased by 9.5% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cold-rolled steel products imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 78% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the main cold-rolled steel products supplier to Belarus, accounting for a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, cold-rolled steel products imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Kazakhstan (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-8.2% per year) and Ukraine (-9.4% per year).
