Russia (X tons) was the main destination for leather footwear exports from Belarus, accounting for a 95% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), with a 2.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia amounted to +14.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+13.1% per year) and Latvia (-11.1% per year).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for leather footwear exports from Belarus, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 1.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia amounted to +13.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+0.3% per year) and Latvia (-11.2% per year).

In 2021, the average leather footwear export price amounted to $X per kg, jumping by 43% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per kg in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Belarus
In 2021, overseas purchases of leather footwear decreased by -0.7% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, leather footwear imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -35.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 66%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia (X tons), China (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of leather footwear imports to Belarus, with a combined 80% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +48.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of leather footwear to Belarus, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia stood at +17.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-6.0% per year) and Turkey (+31.5% per year).

In 2021, the average leather footwear import price amounted to $X per kg, growing by 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per kg in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
