Exports from Belarus

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of heat exchange units decreased by -0.8% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, heat exchange unit exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Russia (X units) was the main destination for heat exchange unit exports from Belarus, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, heat exchange unit exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uzbekistan (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kazakhstan (X units), with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia totaled +15.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+142.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (+7.0% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for heat exchange units exports from Belarus, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Russia amounted to +26.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+172.9% per year) and Lithuania (+41.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average heat exchange unit export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 238% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a prominent expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Belarus

In 2022, overseas purchases of heat exchange units increased by 9.7% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, heat exchange unit imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) constituted the largest supplier of heat exchange unit to Belarus, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, heat exchange unit imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X units), with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia amounted to +5.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+0.6% per year) and Poland (-1.7% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of heat exchange units to Belarus, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Russia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-3.3% per year) and Ukraine (-4.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average heat exchange unit import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -10.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
