In 2021, overseas purchases of motor vehicle engines (spark-ignition) increased by 6.3% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +40.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. Germany (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main suppliers of motor vehicle engine imports to Belarus, with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, China, Spain, Russia, Poland, France, Japan and Australia, which together accounted for a further 32%.
