The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 221%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) was the main destination for non-wheat flour exports from Belarus, accounting for a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, non-wheat flour exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ukraine (X tons), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia totaled +2.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ukraine (+8.2% per year) and Moldova (-0.9% per year).

In 2021, overseas purchases of non-wheat flours increased by 4.4% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +25.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 23%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-wheat flour imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +65.4% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest non-wheat flour supplier to Belarus, accounting for a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, non-wheat flour imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), fivefold.
