In value terms, stranded wire exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Russia (X tons) was the main destination for stranded wire exports from Belarus, with a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, stranded wire exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia stood at +1.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+14.9% per year) and Germany (-4.7% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for stranded wire, ropes and cables exports from Belarus, comprising 39% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Russia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+12.8% per year) and Germany (-6.7% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, stranded wire imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest stranded wire supplier to Belarus, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, stranded wire imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia totaled -1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (-11.1% per year) and China (-11.0% per year).

The average stranded wire import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
