Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X cubic meters), Lithuania (X cubic meters) and Latvia (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates from Belarus, with a combined 82% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Denmark, Romania, Germany and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +268.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Lithuania ($X) and Denmark ($X) were the largest markets for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates exported from Belarus worldwide, together accounting for 71% of total exports. These countries were followed by Latvia, Germany, Romania and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 24%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per thousand cubic meters), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Belarus
Imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates into Belarus soared to X cubic meters in 2021, picking up by 131% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports saw significant growth. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia (X cubic meters), Ukraine (X cubic meters) and Lithuania (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates to Belarus, together comprising 93% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +141.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
