Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, automotive lighting exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Germany (X units), France (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the main destinations of automotive lighting exports from Belgium, with a combined 43% share of total exports. Brazil, the UK, Italy, China, Spain, Poland, Malaysia, Russia, Sweden and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +59.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, automotive lighting export price increased by +83.9% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 48% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were China ($X per unit) and the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per unit) and the UK ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of automotive lighting increased by 26% to X units, rising for the sixth year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, automotive lighting imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +82.3% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, France (X units) constituted the largest supplier of automotive lighting to Belgium, with a 25% share of total imports. Moreover, automotive lighting imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), twofold. Poland (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France stood at +6.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+3.7% per year) and Poland (+19.2% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of automotive lighting to Belgium, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from France amounted to +2.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-0.5% per year) and Poland (+14.3% per year).

The average automotive lighting import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -14.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 14%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($X per unit) and Poland ($X per unit), while the price for Slovakia ($X per unit) and South Korea ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (-4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
