Imports into Belgium
For the third year in a row, Belgium recorded growth in overseas purchases of liquid or compressed air and distilled or conductivity water, which increased by 13% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 172%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, liquid air and distilled water imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 148% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of liquid air and distilled water imports to Belgium, together comprising 92% of total imports.
