Radar Apparatus Market Size in Belgium

The Belgian radar apparatus market fell dramatically to $X in 2022, which is down by -16.6% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded a slight reduction. Radar apparatus consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of radar apparatus exports from Belgium, together comprising 45% of total exports. The UK, the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, the Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

In 2022, overseas purchases of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus decreased by -26% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, radar apparatus imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of radar apparatus to Belgium, accounting for a 25% share of total imports. Moreover, radar apparatus imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X units), twofold. Portugal (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
