Salt Market Size in Belgium
The Belgian salt market declined modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by -1.7% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of salt and pure sodium chloride imported into Belgium reached X tons, surging by 4.6% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, salt imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022.
