Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of cast iron household articles exports from Belgium, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Austria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Greece, the United States, Lithuania, Japan, Luxembourg, Denmark, South Korea and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of table, kitchen or household articles of cast iron, when their volume decreased by -51.6% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 207%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.
In value terms, cast iron household articles imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 328% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest cast iron household articles supplier to Belgium, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, cast iron household articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), fourfold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +9.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+9.4% per year) and Germany (+20.7% per year).
