In value terms, tin bar exports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main destinations of tin bar exports from Belgium, with a combined 92% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +62.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Belgium
After three years of decline, overseas purchases of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires increased by 6.5% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 456%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, tin bar imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 462%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the main suppliers of tin bar imports to Belgium, together comprising 90% of total imports. Italy, Spain, the United States, Luxembourg and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.2%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +283.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires to Belgium, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 7.2% share.
