Germany (X tons) was the main destination for unvulcanised rubber exports from Belgium, with a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, unvulcanised rubber exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a 7.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+13.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+4.8% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for unvulcanised rubber exports from Belgium, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled -1.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+13.9% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.8% per year).

The average unvulcanised rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Belgium
In 2021, purchases abroad of unvulcanised rubber decreased by -45% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, unvulcanised rubber imports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 48%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of unvulcanised rubber to Belgium, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, unvulcanised rubber imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK stood at -8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+1.3% per year) and Poland (+46.2% per year).
