At the same time, Belgium (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. The Netherlands (+6.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -6.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest blood-grouping reagents supplier in Benelux, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Benelux amounted to $X per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. Imports in Benelux

In 2022, overseas purchases of blood-grouping reagents decreased by -3.8% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +89.9% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, blood-grouping reagents imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 26%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The Netherlands (X tons) and Luxembourg (X tons) were the major importers of blood-grouping reagents in 2022, finishing at approx. 44% and 39% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), creating a 17% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +25.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
