In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, buttermilk and buttermilk powder imports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the largest importer of buttermilk and buttermilk powder, committing 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), constituting a 24% share of total imports. Luxembourg (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
