The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

The Netherlands dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 94% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X units), making up a 6.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to diagnostic equipment exports from the Netherlands stood at +6.0%. At the same time, Belgium (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Benelux, with a CAGR of +9.2% from 2012-2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest diagnostic equipment supplier in Benelux, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +101.3% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 91% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X units), comprising a 9.2% share of total imports.

The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus imports, with a CAGR of +5.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of the Netherlands (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-3.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus in Benelux, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 12% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the Netherlands stood at +5.9%.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Benelux amounted to $X per unit, growing by 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 38%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
