The Benelux grape market soared to $X in 2022, picking up by 32% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Grape Production in Benelux

In value terms, grape production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. In 2022, the average yield of grapes in Benelux was estimated at X tons per ha, flattening at 2021. Overall, the yield continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, grape exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 31%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

The Netherlands dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 98% of total exports in 2022. Belgium (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the grapes exports, with a CAGR of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022. Belgium (-6.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest grape supplier in Benelux, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 1.4% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Benelux amounted to $X per ton, falling by -7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
