The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, horizontal machining centre exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Belgium (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the largest exporters of horizontal machining centres for working metal in Benelux, together making up 88% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Luxembourg (X units), making up a 12% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +66.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of horizontal machining centres for working metal increased by 24% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 98% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, horizontal machining centre imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a noticeable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 35%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands was the major importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 63% of total imports. Belgium (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 31% share, followed by Luxembourg (5.9%).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
