The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Belgium dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 98% of total exports in 2021. The Netherlands (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Belgium increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+12.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Benelux, with a CAGR of +12.3% from 2012-2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest inulin supplier in Benelux, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 1.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Belgium totaled +3.5%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Benelux stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Belgium amounted to $X per ton.

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of inulin, when their volume decreased by -34.9% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 235% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, inulin imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 180% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which reached 80% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), creating a 20% share of total imports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the inulin imports, with a CAGR of +45.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. The Netherlands (+66 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -65.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
