The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

The Netherlands was the major exporter of perfumes and toilet waters in Benelux, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 79% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), achieving a 20% share of total exports.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the Netherlands totaled $X per ton.

In 2022, overseas purchases of perfumes and toilet waters increased by 19% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, perfume imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 72% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), making up a 27% share of total imports.
