In 2021, the Netherlands (X square meters) was the main exporter of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles, constituting 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X square meters), comprising a 13% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to photographic paper exports from the Netherlands stood at -10.2%. Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belgium increased by +7.4 percentage points.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest photographic paper supplier in Benelux, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.

Imports in Benelux
In 2021, overseas purchases of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles decreased by -51.2% to X square meters for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 479% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2020, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, photographic paper imports plummeted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 144%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands represented the main importing country with an import of about X square meters, which amounted to 67% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X square meters), comprising a 33% share of total imports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the photographic paper, paperboard and textiles imports, with a CAGR of +31.4% from 2012 to 2021. Belgium (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+54 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -53.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
